Do I Need a Breast Augmentation, Breast Lift, or Both?

One of the most important things you need to consider when thinking about breast enhancement is whether you need a breast augmentation, breast lift, or both. Here’s the thing: breast lifts and breast augmentations are different enough procedures that you need to find which one fits your specific aesthetic goals and body type. They’re also different enough that, if needed, you can get both at the same time.
When Should I Get a Breast Augmentation?
Breast augmentation is all about creating fuller, larger breasts. Women who tend to get breast augmentation are usually women who want to reverse the effects of breast feeding, pregnancy, and child rearing. A lot of women who went through rapid weight loss and want to regain their previous breast volume also tend to get breast augmentations. It’s usually advised that young women who vie for breast implants try to wait until their breasts are fully developed before undergoing a breast augmentation.
Breast augmentation is usually done by inserting implants—those clear, flexible sacs you’ve probably seen on TV. Those are actually filled with either silicone gel or saline, and they’re what create firmness and volume in the breasts.
To avoid the “I’m hiding basketballs in my chest” look and get a more natural breast augmentation, your surgeon should take into account your build, physical frame, the width of your chest wall, and the amount of breast tissue you already have.
When Should I Get a Breast Lift?
Breasts lifts are for women who are happy with their breast size but want to reshape them into a more youthful, perkier, more contoured shape. Women who get breast lifts usually want to correct their tubular breasts, drooping breasts, and/or enlarged areolas.
Breasts lift procedures are done by creating an incision on the breast, then removing excess skin and breast tissue and then repositioning the breast and the areola.
When Should I Get Both?
Want to create a more youthful, perkier shape for your breasts while increasing volume and rounding out your cleavage? You should probably get a combined breast lift and a breast augmentation procedure; it’s actually quite common to do them at the same time or in separate procedures.
If you think that your breasts lack firmness, then the combination procedures will give you lift and add firmness from the silicone implants.
