The Benefits of Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty—more commonly known as eye lift surgery—is a popular procedure both on its own and as part of a facelift. If you suffer from drooping eyelids, you’ll be interested to know that eye lift surgery offers a number of both medical and aesthetic benefits:

1. Having a blepharoplasty performed can reduce the number of wrinkles around your eyes.

If you choose to have both your upper and lower lids lifted, you’ll probably see a dramatic reduction in the number of lines around your eyes. This is because blepharoplasty surgery tightens the skin around the eyes as well as repositioning the lids. For additional rejuvenation, you may wish to have a chemical peel performed once you’ve healed from your eye lift. This will remove any lingering fine lines on the skin by forcing the skin to completely regenerate.

2. An eye lift will banish your bags.

If you elect to have your lower eyelid lifted, you can officially say “goodbye” to unsightly under-eye bags. Blepharoplasty surgery gets rid of excess skin and tissue below the eye, leading to a much smoother and more “awake” appearance.

3. Blepharoplasty surgery can restore the shape of your eyes.

As we get older, sagging lids can make our eyes look droopy and sad. One of the primary reasons people have an eye lift performed is to get rid of the excess skin responsible for this and restore their eyes to their former shape. For best results, try pairing your blepharoplasty with other (surgical or non-surgical) facelift procedures.

4. Blepharoplasty is a great way to restore your field of vision.

Drooping eyelids do more than just make us look like human bloodhounds—they can also seriously interfere with our sight. If your peripheral vision isn’t what it used to be owing to excess skin intruding on your line of sight, it’s strongly recommended that you get your lids lifted. This is especially true if you frequently operate vehicles or perform complex manual tasks.

Whether you’re looking to improve your self-confidence and self-esteem or simply miss being able to see like you used to, a blepharoplasty is probably right for you. Just make sure to choose a highly skilled and experienced cosmetic surgeon; as you can imagine, this is a delicate operation. Contact Dr. Michael C. Fasching for a blepharoplasty consultation today!
